Stop Censorship!
SOPA
The Judiciary Committee is trying to pass these bills: PROTECT-IP Act and
Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA). What they're trying to do is stop people from watching TV shows and movies on sites like Megavideo and Putlocker, but why is piracy such a bad thing? Without the competition from piracy, sites like Hulu and Netflix never would of came to be. The Itunes store forget about it! Before Napster existed It was $20 a CD. I don't think anyone wants to go back to that!
It used to be fun going to movies but not anymore because now it is full of
ads that never stop! Then you have to sit through a ton of trailers. Then the
introduction to the movie, and then the movie itself which probably had product
placement somewhere all throughout it. So of course people want to watch movies
on Netflix or Hulu, but if it's not on that. Either torrent it or stream it somewhere,
which makes sense. No one wants to spend $30 to buy a movie and no one should have to do that.
This bill would effect youtube users because it could stop them from being able to
share video clips from news channels. If this passes they may not be able to
do that. Corporations like Tumblr and Reddit are protesting these laws. They
have big ads on their sites telling you not to support this BS! They would limit
what are viewers can post here and would become a threat to our business.
Also, the eviction of the Occupy protestors and these bills have something in
common. They both benefit giant corporations at the detriment of every day
people.
